The Story

Born in
Brooklyn.
Handcrafted
in Zürich.

One artisan. Two cities. A lineage that stretches from Kentucky to Zürich.

The Origin

A name that
carries history.

The story began in Brooklyn, inspired by Oliver Lewis — the first jockey and African American to win the inaugural Kentucky Derby. His pioneering spirit echoed in founder Richard Faison, who made history himself as the first Black artisan crafting Shtreimels for the Hasidic community.

From these roots, Richard set out to create pieces for everyday life, not just ceremonial moments — handcrafted hats that carry heritage, individuality, and the quiet courage to stand out.

Every Oliver Lewis piece holds a part of his story, and an invitation to express your own.

What we stand for
01
Heritage

Every technique Richard uses traces back to traditions passed down through generations — from Kentucky Derby silks to Brooklyn fur workshops.

02
Individuality

No two hats are identical. Each piece is shaped to the wearer — a commission is a conversation, not a transaction.

03
Craft

Made entirely by one pair of hands, in a single atelier. No factories. No shortcuts. Just the time it takes to do it right.
